Giving Thanks...

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays but this was a weekend I had been dreading.  Unsure of which way it would go (would I end up locking myself in my closet with a bottle glass of wine rocking on the floor the entire time?), I braced myself for the worst version of me to seep through.

I'm happy to report composure was maintained and the entire family did really well.  We had some new friends join us and hootin' and a hollerin' wafted through the house.  Had it not been for the massive caloric intake, I would of had abs of steel from all the laughter.

Yes, Thursday has come and gone.  Leftovers are but a memory and pants are snug in all the wrong places.  Well mine are, anyway.  The bombardment of the holiday season in full swing but I will continue to be thankful.

I give thanks for my beautiful, crazy children, an amazing family, old and new friends, our home, laughing again (so hard it hurts), my job and awesome bosses.. and for somehow keeping my nose above water level.  Even when it's hard to see them, there are loads of blessings, big and small..

Everywhere.

Giving Thanks...

In typical Full Circle Style, we do this holiday differently. Gramsie and GrandPapa usually visit family out of town on Thanksgiving; so we do our feasting on Saturday. Unfortunately, their destination was up in the mountains and a blizzard warning the day they were to depart kept them home. Since we have a load of family and friends joining us on Saturday, our plans remain set.

Today, we give thanks over Surf N Turf.

Little Buddy doesn't quite get all the fuss. As a matter of fact, he's questioning why we don't give presents on Thanksgiving. Kinda lame in his book. The one saving grace? He's totally stoked that his Auntie MooMoo will be eating with us TWICE in the next few days.

She is awesome..

Today I give thanks for my wonderful husband, our two very special guests, amazing family and friends and awesome job (especially for being so flexible). This journey would not be the same without the support of my bloggy friends.. you all are the best!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Giving Thanks

I Am Thankful For

*My wonderful husband
*Amazing Nantie
*My incredible family and friends
*Our beautiful home
*My bosses (that have yet to send me packing)
*The therapy this lil ole blog provides
*Relatively good health all year long

Most of all, I am so very thankful we got to be a little part of Jack & Jill and Mannie & Sunshine's journey. I pray they still feel the love we poured over them and their souls never forget their time with us.

I wish you all safe travels, a wonderful day filled with family and friends and comfy stretchy pants to lounge in later this afternoon!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, MY FRIENDS!!!

(P.S. Goooo Broncos! - no snickering, please..)

And So Today We Give Thanks..

Last year we started celebrating our Thanksgiving on Saturday. There were several reasons but the main one was so Big Daddy could spend the actual holiday with his daughters. They both live here in CO (several hours away) and don't get to see him as often as they like. We all live within minutes of each other and get together frequently. To be fair we changed the days so they could spend it with both sides.

Come to find out, Saturday Thanksgiving was a blessing in and of itself this year. I was literally so sick on Thursday I couldn't get out of bed. I spent the day in and out of Nyquil hazes, waking to Macy's parade floats and episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8. Scary, right?

SO, today is our Big Day and I'm at about 90% capacity (trust me that will not stop a bottle of Beringer 2006 Private Reserve Chardonnay to pop at around 11:30am). I worked yesterday but got off early so pies were made, 10 pounds of potatoes chopped and the table was set. Bless Missy and Nantie's hearts.. they showed up and spent 3 hours cleaning house for me so I wouldn't have to worry about it. How wonderful is MY family?! Dang, I have so much to be thankful for..

The taters are on the stove trying to boil and I've taken Tom out of the 'fridge. DH and Kiwi are supposed to golf later this morning (if the frost melts off). I cannot WAIT for the house to start smelling like turkey and get the holiday feel started.

I did, however, burn my toast this morning.. I sure hope it's not a sign...

Dagnabbit!

The Zicam failed me big time. My coworker said he's never seen me get so sick in an 8 hour period (and we've worked together for 12 years). I did a big ole shooter of Nyquil last night and was passed out in bed by 7pm.

The upside is we celebrate our family Thanksgiving here at the house on Saturday. On top of all the traditional yummy stuff, we're cooking up 40 lbs of turkey (so there's enough for everyone to have to-goers). So, I have a couple extra days to get better.

The downside is, tomorrow we're supposed to be going to Missy and My Kiwi's for surf and turf (and I had planned on doing a big house scrub for Saturday).

For crying out loud...
