MomTV's Adoption Angles ~ What's Up?

As many of you know, my show hasn't aired for the last few weeks. I've officially placed it on a temporary hiatus until our little village settles down. Between social workers running our lives, focusing on the kiddos and dealing with an array of issues, I've had to put some projects on the back burner.

Sadly, this is one of them.

MTVAA is my baby and I'm hoping to get back on asap. I want to thank the awesome Team at MomTV (Maria, Bob, ElizaBeth, Shellie and Clarissa) for their understanding and constant support (on so many levels). Also, a big shout out to my guests for being so understanding and, of course, my awesome viewers.

I appreciate you all so very much and hope to be back soon!

With the help from our friends at The Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption the 12th annual production of "A Home For The Holidays" airs tonight (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Included are moving performances by Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge, Grammy Award-winning group Maroon 5, Grammy Award-winning superstar Ricky Martin and Grammy Award-winning hip hop artist Nelly. The show will open with a performance by pop sensation Katy Perry. The hosts of "The Talk," Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Jaret Winokur, as well as Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Mira Sorvino ("Mighty Aphrodite") are among the talent set to present.

This awesome special highlights children in foster care and their inspirational stories. Gather the family around the TV and TUNE IN!

At 9PM EST, Teresa Signorelli makes her second appearance on MomTV's Adoption Angles! Dr. Signorelli is a child development specialist and bilingual certified speech-language pathologist with 17+ years experience. She is the Director of the Smadbeck Communication and Learning Center at Marymount Manhattan College and consults in private practice. Dr. Signorelli runs the Neurodevelopment and Rehabilitation Laboratory at Marymount where she studies brain changes though normal development, in response to disorder or injury and/or following cognitive-linguistic, motor-speech and related therapies.

We will be discussing how to build the best home play-learning space designed to foster optimal development! A very cool subject for ALL parents (adoptive and nonadoptive!).

2nd Time Is A Charm On MTVAA!

A few months back I had the lovely Sally Bacchetta (@AdoptiveParent) booked on the show but techie difficulites prevented us from broadcasting. Well, the second time is a charm my friends because TONIGHT at 9PM EST Sally from The Adoptive Parent will be joining us once again!
Sally is an adoptive mother and award-winning writer with more than a decade of experience in medical writing, magazine journalism, and corporate communications. She draws on her educational and professional background in psychology and counseling to illuminate the private thoughts of adoptive parents with sensitivity and honesty. Sally is the author of the book What I Want My Adopted Child to Know: An Adoptive Parent's Perspective.

It's going to be a super duper show.. not only will Sally be reading excerpts from her book and answering YOUR questions, she will also be giving away TWO autographed copies..

MTVAA Is Back With Another Rockin' Guest!

I'm thrilled to announce we have beautiful Becky Fawcett joining us on MTVAA!!


Becky is a luxury lifestyle public relations and marketing specialist who owns her own New York based firm, The Fawcett Group. Prior to starting her own business in 1999 she was director of marketing for Philadelphia magazine. She holds a B.A. Degree from Franklin & Marshall College, 1992. In response to their own adoption experience, Becky and her husband Kipp founded helpusadopt.org in order to help couples/individuals overcome the financial hurdles they meet along the way to completing their own adoptions. Becky serves as executive director on a pro bono basis, writes her own blog An Infertile Blonde, gets the hiccups when she eats carrots, has a slight addiction to Sour Patch Kids, dreams of writing a book and lives in NYC with her husband, two children and a somewhat disrespectful dog who likes to sleep on the dining room table when no one is looking.

Due to a crazayzy last couple of days, MomTV's Adoption Angles will not be seen tonight. I will be back next Wednesday at 9PM EST with my most excellent guest Becky Fawcett of HelpUsAdopt.org and An Infertile Blonde.

Great news! Missy called and said they are hoping to let evacuated families back home TODAY!! Horray!

Holly Is Back For More Fun On MTVAA!

Lovely Holly from Texas joins us tonight for her second appearance on MTVAA!

She and her husband Sean adopted two children ages 9 & 10 out of foster care in 2002. Both children suffer from Reactive Attachment Disorder and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Currently, the kids are 17 & 18. Their son is proudly serving in the United States Army and their daughter resides at home with Holly and Sean.

I am thrilled she is back to share her journey with us!

Lovely Suzanne Is Back For More Fun!!

Our special guest tonight is the lovely Suzanne Smith from Love Without Boundaries.

A mommy of four (her youngest, now 5, was adopted from China through the Special Needs program), is the Associate Director of Communications for LWB and passionate about getting the word out about her amazing organization.

What does LWB do? From their web site:
"LWB began in the year 2003, after a group of adoptive parents came together to help save the life of one tiny boy in China. Following his successful heart surgery, they realized that people with a pure love for helping children can truly make a difference. LWB incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charity in the state of Oklahoma, and our worldwide team of volunteers went to work. We have watched our foundation grow from providing a handful of surgeries and baby formula in 2003 to touching the lives of thousands of children today through our many program areas. LWB holds Charity Navigator's highest 4 star rating and has an administrative overhead of less than 8%."

My awesome guest tonight is Audrey RL Wyatt from hot hot hot AZ (well, this time of year, anyway!). She is an adoptee with a very interesting story and an amazing writer.

Here's a little bit about her:

"Audrey RL Wyatt is right brained to a fault. Before attacking prose, she exhibited photography in juried shows and worked in theatre; acting, teaching and creating children’s theater curricula. So it was surprising that her writing career began in the non-fiction realms of politics, environment and law.

Finally succumbing to her creative nature, Audrey now writes fiction. Her debut novel, Poles Apart, is a story of family inspired by Audrey’s childhood among Holocaust survivors in Cleveland. Whether it was their silence or the horrific stories they told, their presence left an indelible mark. It has been honored with five awards. Her essays and short fiction, often featuring strong-willed,quirky women, have been published in various forums, both print and online.

Always one to foster aspiring artists, Audrey founded Southeast Valley Fiction Writers near Phoenix, Arizona, and Bay State Writers in Southeast Massachusetts. She gives agood deal of time to area schools and also teaches MemoirWriting to seniors. She is a partner in LitSisters Publishing, aboutique house publishing women writers, as well as afounding member of LitSisters, a networking and support community for writers."

She will be sharing her journey with us this evening and reading from her works. Also, she will be giving away not one BUT TWO signed copies of her award winning novel, "Poles Apart"!!!!
