But Summer Isn't Over Yet...

Yes, yesterday was the first day of school, however, Auntie MooMoo was having none of it. She and LittleBuddy spent a late afternoon hanging at a local reservoir w/ friends from her work.

That's my kinda Wednesday right thar.. let me tell you what..

My Wish...

Little Buddy's class had their Spring Sing presentation on Wednesday. They worked really hard and did a fantastic job. It concluded with a sing along.. everyone in attendance got a copy and we all sang our hearts out...

If his lovely teacher was trying to make me and AuntieMooMoo cry, she succeeded.

LB continued singing his version to me over the course of the evening .. he knows how to melt this Mama's heart. After the brutal month we've had, I can't begin to describe how awesome happy tears feel..

I will be framing this wonderful memory.

Scenes From The Zoo

With the crazy that has become our lives, I totally spaced sharing some memories from our trip to the zoo a couple weeks back. Uncle JoeJoe, Auntie D and Princess A had flown in that very day and we met up with them, Auntie MooMoo and GramPapa for a wonderful afternoon.

Jack only knew Uncle JoeJoe through pictures and stories but was his biggest fan just the same. He was on Uncle J like white on rice. This shot was taken within moments of meeting..

Jack and Jill both love (and look up to) their totally cool cousin, Princess A.

Melissa who?..

There were cool tigers..

Nosy neighbors..

And boy howdy, was it hot..

It was a most excellent day!

Jack and Jill might return home but no one can take away our good times. No way, no how.

Roughing It

Here is a little ditty from our camping trip over the weekend. For those of you that mock my sense of adventure and heartiness (BRENDA), I have proof that I did actually have to dig deep and truly rough it.

Our crew went swimming Saturday morning (remember the thong?). By early afternoon it was time to pack it in and head back to the rig. DH, Auntie MooMoo and Uncle Kiwi had a tee time while Jack, Jill and I were going to stay behind for Quiet Time. A cold beer, chewy chocolate cookies, hot shower and WiFi anyone? One word: Heaven!

I am a good little camper and know how to take sailors showers (turn the water off to conserve while lathering). Although we were in a campsite with plug ins DH decided not to hook up the water, assuring me we had enough.

Uh huh.

I was covered head to toe with soap and hair dripping with conditioner when, you guessed it, the water sputtered and ran out. I had 2 kids asleep (one on the couch up front and one in our bed in the back) and not an adult family member in sight. FOR HOURS.

My survival instincts kicked in. I grabbed a towel, burst out of the bathroom, ran across the rig to a cabinet and pulled out a case of bottled water that I drug back to the shower. Did I mention all the blinds were open? Poor neighbors.

Look out Man Vs Wild, there's a new kid in town:

Perfect Moment Monday..

This is NOT and I mean totally NOT Auntie MooMoo making people do double takes at the pool on Saturday. She would never (EVER) wear ANYTHING like this.

Girls Night & Jack's Beanstalk

Even before the kiddos came, DH and I weren't much for painting the town red. Our work weeks can be brutal and we're pretty much homebodies. Yard work, housework and some golf here and there. It's all about recharging.

I am sooo glad I used one of my rare occasions for going outandabout on Girls Only.. It was awesome. Auntie MooMoo and I High 5'ed and laughed until we cried. A shout out to all the Denver Ladies (and along the Front Range) grab your sister, BFF or fav Mama and GO! It's adult but quite innocent (if that makes sense). I only have one regret.. Gramsie and Nantie weren't with us. I'm thinking we're going to have to take them.

That night I had the great pleasure of meeting Amber, Lori and other Mile High Mamas. Darling Amber was our Mule and transported her hubby's most excellent pumpkin to the function. I'm fairly certain ours was the only table at the show with plant life (pictured above). Thank You, Jamie!! We'll take good care of him and keep you posted!

I'm proud to report my Mommy instincts kicked in and I pulled the ole switcharoo. As Jack and Jill slept I pitched one of the several non growing pumpkins for Monstro. The kids FLIPPED OUT.
This week we did have a couple little ones pop up.. Gee, I wonder which will be BIGGEST!?

It's Girls Night Out, Baby!!

That's it.. we can't take it anymore. We're strapping on the stilettos, digging out the Lycra zebra-stripped mini dress from the Poison concert in '89 and hitting the town.

Okay, maybe not. Although I know at least one person that snorted morning coffee out her nose at the thought of me in warbling around in heels (*Bren*). By the way, I have yet to part with that dress as it very well could come back into fashion (cue Stacy and Clinton from stage right to whisk me off to New York now).

I digress..

So, it might not be as trashy as all that, but dang it we ARE doing a GNO just the same!! Thanks to our totally cool friends at Mile High Mamas, a bunch of us silly bloggin' chickies (and my bestest girl Auntie MooMoo) are headed to Denver tonight to catch Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women . Afterwards we also get to attend a Q&A with the stars and creators, Linda and Barbara. How cool is that?

But wait, there's more..

To top it off, two of my mostest favoriteist** blogging heros Amber and Lori will be there. I follow (er, cyber stalk) them on a regular basis and now they have to deal with me in person. Hopefully no one throws out conversations that end in "... restraining order..."

Alas, there will be no belly shots or bail money but I have no doubt it'll be a rockin' time just the same. Hey, I'm easy.. if it gets me out of doing dishes for a night I'm a happy camper..

;o)

Germs 1.. Germination 0

DH went down hard last Friday with a nasty bout of bronchitis and didn't go back to work until today. Jack and Jill have been coughing and boogery all week and Nantie is trying to fend something off, as well. Thanks to Bren's nagging (er, kind words of advice) I started taking my prenatal vitamins after my last huge knock down and have yet to have a full blown cold (thank God!).

Germs win round 1...

Auntie MooMoo came over 2 weeks ago and helped the kiddos plant PUMPKIN SEEDS!! WOOHOO!! They looked like this:
Visions of monstrous jack o lanterns danced in their heads. Jack and Jill check them every day (swearing they see something coming up, of course). The package promised we would see some sprouting in just a few days.

Did I mention it has been 2 weeks? They look like this:
How wrong is THAT?? Do you see the giant pumpkin on the package? Or is that just a really small child?!?? How do these people sleep at night knowing they are going to let down adults (er, little kids) everywhere!??!

Germination-A Big Fat Zilch.

Starting Them Young..

Auntie Bren and Kadi will be happy to hear the kids are already hooked on Starbucks.

Seriously.

The Saturday before Easter I had to work. That morning DH, Auntie MooMoo, Uncle Kiwi, Jack and Jill piled into the car and headed over to a local high school where a church was putting on an egg hunt. It was freezing cold, starting to drizzle and the line to get in was literally was 3 miles long (or so the story goes). They put the kibosh on attending the hunt and went over to a park instead. After playing for some time, all were chilled to the bone and Auntie MooMoo had a great idea:

STARBUCKS!

Of course, the kiddos didn't have coffee.. they got hot chocolate, a cookie the size of Jack's head and a scrumdilliumptious pastry. They call it "The Coffee Store" and are still talking about how good it smells inside. They want to know when we're going back. For the record, if they visit two more times they will officially have been to Starbucks one more than I have.

So wrong.

Personally, I would've taken them to 7-11 but that's just me. NOW I have to find a second job to afford their addiction and learn the language so I can go in and order with confidence. I wonder if Rosetta Stone has software for just such a dilemma..

Stay Tuned ..

Friday Night At Last

Auntie MooMoo (Missy) came over to spend some time with the twins this afternoon. When I got home the kids were already in jammies and homemade chicken noodle soup was bubbling on the stove.

One word: HEAVEN!

The kids had already eaten and were soon off to sleep. AN EARLY NIGHT! It's 8:30, I'm already showered and in bed with DVR'd Supernanny. Could it get any better?

Nope.

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be rainy/snowy/cold/icky. Perfect to stay snuggled in with the kiddos, hunkered down watching movies and hopefully recover from this stupid cold. DH is off snowmobiling for the day and Nantie and I will hold down the fort. In sweats, no doubt.

For now, it's a shooter of NyQuil & JoJo... Nighty night.
