An Adoption Of The 4 Legged Variety

As many of you know, we have been involved with a dog rescue for several years (IMPS). We have fostered loads of wonderful min pins, many of which we wanted to adopt ourselves. It can be really really hard letting them go. I must admit, we did adopt our very first foster (he suckered ..errr charmed.. us with his "charazma" as his Daddy says).

For the past 2 1/2 years we have fostered The Divine Miss Coco. She came to us as a sassy 13 year old, in her hay day a black and tan (but now a black and white-LOL). During her time with us, her eyes have failed and she is now almost completely blind.

She navigates the house with great ease and we sometimes forget she can't see.. until she bonks into something that is out of place. She loves to snuggle and remind Cass (the Doberman) who da boss really is. They are best buds.

Many seniors don't get adopted for obvious reasons.. but this one did...

How lucky are we?

MTVAA Is Back With Another Rockin' Guest!

I'm thrilled to announce we have beautiful Becky Fawcett joining us on MTVAA!!

Becky is a luxury lifestyle public relations and marketing specialist who owns her own New York based firm, The Fawcett Group. Prior to starting her own business in 1999 she was director of marketing for Philadelphia magazine. She holds a B.A. Degree from Franklin & Marshall College, 1992. In response to their own adoption experience, Becky and her husband Kipp founded helpusadopt.org in order to help couples/individuals overcome the financial hurdles they meet along the way to completing their own adoptions. Becky serves as executive director on a pro bono basis, writes her own blog An Infertile Blonde, gets the hiccups when she eats carrots, has a slight addiction to Sour Patch Kids, dreams of writing a book and lives in NYC with her husband, two children and a somewhat disrespectful dog who likes to sleep on the dining room table when no one is looking.

Radio.. Err.. Bloggy Silence

I apologize for neglecting my little blog. The second wild fire here in CO (in Loveland) directly affected My Kiwi & My Missy (brother and sister in law). They were evacuated on Sunday (currently staying with us) and the fire is at 20% containment.

There have been blessings all around including being able to pull resources from the Four Mile Canyon Fire in Boulder. We had slurry bombers, firefighters, personnel and helicopters that were dispatched to us immediately. As a matter of fact, a Ranger Pal of Missy's told her that, had it not been for the insanely quick response, they would've lost their home.

This was taken a few hours after the mandatory evac on Sunday at the Command Center:
(The orange in the middle of the picture is from the slurry bomber, not flames)

The good news is, as of this moment, the fire is moving away from homes and all but two have been spared. Keeping everyone involved in our prayers..

Oh, did I mention Missy was on the news? CHECK IT OUT

A Prayer For JuneBug's Family

As some of you may recall, our darling JuneBug went to live with family members last May. In her mere 2 1/2 years of life, she has experienced more drama than most of us do in a lifetime. That little blue eyed pixie is a survivor and a trooper beyond comprehension.

She's my little hero.

Word has it they've hit a rough spot and I am asking for your prayers. This is a time when her family needs strength and peace to do what needs to be done to ensure her safety and well being. They are kind, tender hearted people and I know decisions they make on her behalf are going to create a firestorm. Although it seems very cut and dry, it's not. They don't want to upset anyone but it's all about JuneBug.. no one else.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as it is a very difficult time for all involved.

iRant

So, last Spring I wrote about how peeved I was over the search for my birth mother. It had come to a screetching halt. --> REFRESHER <-- Basically, I have a very common birth name... it's not Smith or Jones but apparently close enough. The company I contracted with (I finally bit the bullet and shelled out the cashola) also hit a wall with the name. I was told to call Los Angeles County, have them pull my nonid info again and ask them a couple of questions that weren't addressed the first time it was opened 5 years ago. They put me on "The List" and kindly told me it would be THREE MONTHS before a worker would be assigned to my case. WHAT THE? Knowing how easy it is to fall through the cracks in The System, I have contacted them every few weeks since to make sure I was still present and accounted for. I was.

This past week marked 3 months and I made my call.

Holding breath.

Stomach churning.

Much to my surprise (insert dramatic eye roll here) I was advised that, due to recent cutbacks, I am still unassigned. Will it be a week? A month? 6 months? No clue. Just.. well.. you know.. sometime. Keep checking back..

OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Can I just say how BEYOND peeved I am that I, as a 40-something, can't even get random information about myself without feeling like I am pulling teeth??? You would THINK I should have the right to search and at the very least seek her out to find out the family's medical history. Trust me, it's no fun being a hypochondriac and worrying about ALL the crazy stuff I could have.
